Reflection #1

1. How has my new learning challenged my beliefs about Web 2.0?
After the initial frustration of not being able to use the tutorial, I'm realizing that a blog isn't as hard to manipulate as I first thought. I can see where these tools will work for different classes and different teachers.

2. How have the concepts addressed in this course challenged your beliefs about education and your current practice?
I didn't think I'd ever use a blog in any of my classes! However, I can see where it will be a wonderful learning tool for my students. As well as using technology to keep them engaged, they will be able to learn from each other as far as content and new ideas.

3. How do you see Web 2.0 fitting in your practice?
I definitely will use at least one of these tools for at least one of my classes.

4. What questions remain and still need to be investigated?
I still need to figure out some of the gadgets and how I will add my students to have rights to the site.

  1. It appears as though you are getting the hang of blogging just fine. Unfortunately you, and others, had to endure a bit of frustration at the beginning. Perhaps it would have been better to not have a tutorial at all? Perhaps this is a learning experience that you can extend to your students. Do your students need to be taught everything or is there value in "figuring it out." That phrase doesn't always have to be a cop-out response to your students questions. I think you proved that it just takes a bit of confidence!

  2. Frustration can be great at times, huh?

Thanks for sticking with it despite the rocky issues with audio.

I'm glad you're seeing some ways to use the technology for your own purposes and in a way that's tailored to your teaching style.

I hope you continue to find tools to use that can help you and your students make learning more effective and enjoyable.
